It is a well known fact that obesity and being overweight are a major and growing problem throughout the world. The problem with the BMI is that it has been shown to be very inaccurate in many situations.

More recently, an alternative, simple measurement, the BAI or body adiposity index has been proposed to be used to estimate body fat percentage. The BAI was designed from analysing a number of large population studies, by Bergman et al. It relies on hip circumference and height, taking weight out of the equation. While still not perfect, this tool can help you gauge more about your body fat percentage and aid in your design of a perfect weight loss program.
